TCW Summer Fitness Challenge
Each summer from Memorial Day through Labor Day, Tri to Change the World™ sponsors a Summer Fitness Challenge. Participants 18 and under set mileage goals in one, two or all three of the triathlon sports (swim, bike, run) and solicit pledges from friends and family to raise funds for at-risk children.
This "virtual triathlon" is designed to help children learn to set goals, build physical strength, and develop positive body image, regardless of their current physical abilities. Participants don't have to be star athletes to accept the triathlon challenge. They don't have to be members of a club or organization. They don't have to attend meetings or travel long distances to join in. They can step up to the challenge wherever they are, whenever they can, with whomever they choose. Athletes simply log miles on the honor system and are on the way to meeting the goal.
Through their participation, kids can discover the thrill of accomplishing what they set out to achieve and experience the strength they gain by engaging in healthy activities. What's more, they find out that giving to others through the pledges and donations they raise can be one of their greatest life accomplishments.
What are some things to consider when deciding whether to TRI with us? (In other words, "What's in it for me?")
- Getting healthier
- Feeling good about achieving your goal
- Raising money for children who are in need
- Being part of something big and making a big impact
- Having a personalized press release that includes your picture sent to your hometown newspaper(s)
- Earning a spot on our Youth Advisory Council, which will look amazing on your college entrance application
- Building friendships with other kids who TRI with you
Raising money is easy! You never have to handle a check or mail any money in. Simply direct your sponsors to our donations page (http://www.tritochangetheworld.org/donate.html), and within minutes their donation is taken care of. Of course, your sponsors can always mail us a check too, if they really want to.
And, if you really don't like the idea of raising money (which we know some folks don't!), we still want you to TRI with us. Just log your miles and get healthy!
